THE ART OF MINDFUL COMMUNICATIONS will be held on Zoom Monday evenings 6:30 – 8:00, March 8 – April 12 (6 weeks). To sign up, go online to Flagler College Lifelong learning Program. Once there, click on Personal Enrichment, and you can sign up online. Cost is $49.00.
COURSE DESCRIPTION In the best of times, a conversation with family members, colleagues, or friends can turn into an unintended power-struggle. Add to this situation recent events in politics, business, and entertainment media, and we are more and more finding ourselves embroiled in conflict instead of conversation. Surprisingly, many of our commonly accepted ways of talking to one another inadvertently promote conflict. This is a timely and essential course for everyone.
Among the topics included are
#1. The two most important ingredients of every conversation
#2 The most important skill for defusing a potential power-struggle
#3. The skills for ending an uncomfortable conversation.
SOME COMMENTS BY PAST PARTICIPANTS
The best part of the course was “learning to develop dialogue that is mindful of the person I am communicating with.”
“Thank you for a great class.”
“The most useful part was applying the methods you presented.”
“How about offering a followup course?”
“The visuals really help me to see ways I can recognize and avoid unintended word battles.”
ZOOM WORKSHOPS: I invite you and your group to schedule Zoom workshops or a course on Parenting. You can contact me at Dr.j@responsiblekids.org, and we can design a custom workshop.
